Strawberry Mint Lemonade or Limeade
With the warmer weather, make yourself a Strawberry Mint Lemonade or Limeade.
Springtime often brings a variety of important reasons to celebrate, whether it be a graduation or two, end-of-the-school-year parties, Memorial Day barbecues, a bridal shower or luncheon, and the welcoming of a brand-new baby! Lots of time goes into decorating the evening and the food menu, so I wanted to make your refreshment choice easy with my Strawberry Mint Lime Fizz. This flavorful little mocktail can be something everyone can partake in together, and if you want to kick it up a notch, add a little rum, and it quickly becomes a Strawberry Mojito!
My garden inspired the secret ingredients for this unique, colorful drink. For me, spring means strawberries; if I don’t have enough in my little strawberry patch, I can find lots from my local farmers’ market! I have planted a variety of mint in my yard that has spread nicely, making it an obvious choice to pair with the strawberries. Instead of sugar, I used some honey from a local beekeeper for my simple syrup. I only needed to pick up a few limes and soda water from the store.

For many of us, beverages can be an added source of calories. Still, this mocktail is so flavorful that you won’t mind sipping and savoring it, and you can make it as refreshing and light as you choose with less simple syrup and more strawberries, lime, mint, and club soda. You can substitute lemon juice to make a Strawberry Lemonade. Strawberries contain vitamin C, potassium, folate, fiber, flavonoids, antioxidants, and the anti-cancer plant chemical ellagic acid. Honey can be an excellent antioxidant and mint potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C, iron, and vitamin A.
Strawberry Mint Lime Fizz
Makes six servings
2-ounce honey simple syrup (see recipe below)
2-ounce lime juice (substitute lemon juice for the Strawberry Mint Lemonade)
6-8 ounces of soda water
12-14 strawberries
Crushed ice
Extra strawberries, lime, and mint for garnish
(4-ounce rum if you want to add a little kick)
Honey Simple Syrup
1 cup water
1 1/2 cup honey
In a mason jar, muddle mint and strawberries together until they are crushed but still in pieces. Add lime juice and simple syrup. Strain into a pitcher or leave the mint and strawberries muddled if desired! Complete the drink with ice, club soda (and rum if desired), and a sprig of mint, a slice of citrus, a strawberry, or all three.

I hope that this tasty Strawberry Mint Lemonade or Limeade becomes a new celebration favorite as summer continues. You can even use blueberries, blackberries, and peaches, which are in season. Change up your fruit to get the freshest ingredients available! The mint will also be even more plentiful in the summer!
