After digestion starts in the mouth, the next stop is the esophagus. I think of it as the food tube because it is a long straight tube that goes down to the esophagus. There is a trap door between the esophagus and the stomach that ideally opens one way and doesn’t let the acid from the stomach come back in but sometimes things that damage the esophageal sphincter (the trap door). And this can really complicate things.
We are going to talk about some of the things to help keep your esophagus it’s healthiest. And we will also discuss health issues involving the esophagus.
