We know that adding a little bit of blue to the holiday will make it much more festive! But there are a lots more reasons why you should go out and get a bag of wild blueberries and make them a part of your annual holiday celebration. Here is how they differ from the garden variety kind of blueberry:

  • Wild blueberries have more intense flavor!
  • Wild blueberries are more nutritious!
  • Wild blueberries have been part of the American landscape for over 10,000 years!
  • Wild blueberries  are genetically diverse so eating them helps us maintain variety in our food supply!
  • Wild blueberries are frozen where they are grown the quality and nutrition are packed tight in there so they are at their best when they come to our kitchen! Look for the wild on the bag when you are looking for wild blueberries.

I also have a few more details about the benefits of these sweet little jewels and a great recipe that you can make to try with Thanksgiving turkey, chicken or Mexican food. Check out my Wild Blueberry Mole Sauce and you may also enjoy this refreshing, holiday beverage Wild Blueberry Sangria.

This holiday salad uses the goodness of wild blueberries and seasonal produce like lettuce, pecans and Brussels sprouts available at the local farmers’ markets. It will make a great addition to your holiday table! You can even make it for a quick special lunch during the busy season also!
